The Campaign for the Cancer Center

Construction of a state-of-the-art outpatient cancer center on the Benedictine Hospital campus including: Radiation Therapy, IMRT, Brachytherapy, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). The Cancer Center at Benedictine Hospital opened in November 2005.

Creation of the region’s only dedicated inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Unit. The Hospice Unit opened in February 2006.

Renovation to the hospital’s inpatient oncology unit. The hospital’s inpatient oncology unit will undergo renovations to accomplish needed redesign and decoration of the 13 private rooms, infusion therapy rooms, and public spaces. Renovations to start in late 2007.

Establishment of a Cancer Support House adjacent to the hospital campus as a home for the Oncology Support Program at Benedictine Hospital. Cancer Support House to open in late 2007.

Ongoing services such as Expanded Detection Services including: expanded Breast Center services, expanded screenings for skin, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer, and use of the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanner for early detection of cancer and Recruitment of Medical Specialists in the following areas of specialty: Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, GYN Oncology, Urology, and Neurosurgery.
