The Birth Place at Benedictine Hospital is a past winner of the Green Parrot Award for being the best place in the Hudson Valley to have your baby according to a recent poll of Hudson Valley Parent's Magazine readers.

The Birth Place at Benedictine Hospital features three Labor-Delivery-Recovery rooms, all with private bathrooms and showers. The unit provides a homelike environment for the mother and her family, and a team of nurses with many years of experience in helping parents through the special experience that culminates in their baby's entrance to the world. Patients are encouraged to utilize the many options that are available including birthing balls, private showers, TV, telephone, and music. There is also a specially equipped room for Cesarean deliveries attended by a nationally certified obstetrical staff to encourage immediate bonding in a family atmosphere. A hydrotherapy tub room is available for labor to promote relaxation and aid in pain management. Water births are also an option.

There are 9 colorfully decorated post partum rooms, and a well baby nursery recently equipped with all new, oak trimmed rolling bassinettes. 100% of our Obstetrical nursing staff are nationally certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in Neonatal Resuscitation.

Our Patient Education Room hosts many classes such as Childbirth Preparation, Bradley® Method Prepared Childbirth, Antepartum Breast Feeding, and the popular New Parents' Support Group that is run by our one of our Lactation Consultants. Parents meet to exchange knowledge, share ideas, and express concerns with others who are "in the same boat." It is a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere and both parents and babies often form lasting friendships as a result.

We know that parents often have questions about their babies that will not wait until morning, so they can call our 24-hour new baby hotline and speak with a nurse right away. With safety on so many parents' minds, we also offer CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) for Family and Friends classes.

Perinatal Bereavement Support Services are coordinated by certified perinatal bereavement counselors for those families experiencing a pregnancy related loss.
