Patient Accommodations

Television

You can arrange to have room television service by calling extension 0. Rental rate is $5.00 daily, paid in advance by cash or check to TeleHealth Services. Five channels are available at no charge. (Telephone and television fees can be combined and paid with one check at a daily rate of $9.00) There is no designated time for turning off the TV, but we request you be considerate of other patients, especially if they are sleeping.

Paid television service includes basic cable channels 2 through 65, with ENCORE on channel 18.

Telephone

Patients can subscribe to telephone service by calling the Registration Department at extension 0. Rental rate is $4.00 daily, paid in advance by cash or check to TeleHealth Services.

Room telephones are not available in the Critical Care and Mental Health areas. Critical Care patient information is available between 2:00 and 9:00 p.m. by calling extension 4117. Mental Health areas have public telephones available for patient use.

Books on Tape and book/magazine cart

Our volunteers visit patient rooms with a selection of books on tape as well as a wide variety of magazine, newspapers and books. The reading materials are offered free so that all patients have the opportunity to enjoy them. If you would like reading materials, please call extension 3044 between the hours of 9am and 1pm. You may also contact your nurse or call the patient representative at extension 3170.

Mail

If you have outgoing mail, you may ask a volunteer to drop it in the central mailbox located on the main floor near the main entrance by the emergency room. Flowers are not permitted in the critical care unit.

Housekeeping

We ask that you contact our Housekeeping Department at extension 4528 if your room requires special attention or does not meet your satisfaction.

Valuables

Taking care of valuables is the sole responsibility of the patient. The Director of Safety and Security strongly recommends that all valuables be left at home or sent home with a family member. The hospital does provide a vault for storage in emergency situations. However, Benedictine Hospital cannot be held liable for any loss.

Lost and Found

The Security Department maintains a Lost and Found for articles that have been found within the hospital. If you or a visitor misplace something during your stay, call extension 0.

Personal Comfort Items

If you are in need of any personal care items, such as soap, shampoo, or additional pillows and blankets, please check with your nurse for availability.
